Apocalypse Now

Recently, a fellow perfume blogger, Rose, questioned whether we might begin to see more cocktails that are modeled on perfumes.

Actually, I want a perfume that smells like this cocktail:

The Apocalypse

If you have not yet had the pleasure of drinking one - or you have never heard of it - wait for a day that something special has happened.

Then treat yourself to this delightful after dinner drink:

1 ounce peppermint schnapps
3/4 ounce Kahlua
1/2 ounce bourbon
1/2 ounce vodka

Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker half-filled with ice.  Shake well.  Strain into a cocktail glass.

Now, tell me you don't want that in an eau de parfum.

  1. wow- I do want that- in both cocktail and scent form!

Such a good name too... I quite fancy myself as a bit of a cocktail mixing master so I might need to try and make this

Thanks for linking to my post x

  2. Uhhh... I don't want that in an edp. I don't even want that in a cocktail glass. Bourbon and vodka together? Sacrilege.

But you could make me a nice mint julep. Or a Tom Collins - with GIN, mind you - or a Woo Woo*. I love a good Woo Woo...

*(Vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice.)

  3. Hi Rose, I like the dramatic name, too. Try it sometime. I think you would appreciate the aroma and the taste.

    Loved your post.

  4. Muse, hello! Your comment made me smile. Initially, I thought the same thing - too much stuff mixed together!

When it comes to cocktails, I'm a bit of a purist, and nothing beats a good martini(always with gin).

But every time my husband makes an Apocalypse, the aroma has me sauntering over for a sniff. And then a taste. Both are exquisite.

    Double dog dare you.
